Derriel was born and raised in oceanside ca and then went to LA where he graduated from CSULB with a kinesiology degree. From there he went to Cerritos college where he got his PTA license. He has been practicing in outpatient orthopedics for the past 11 years. During that time, he became a certified clinical instructor and have worked with several students from PTA programs in LA and Orange county. After his tenure in LA he decided to move back to San Diego to be closer to family and after interviewing with Amyn and Jack and meeting the team from Carmel Valley, he decided to join the ProActive team. As a PTA he enjoys being able to help people return to their prior level of function and even to recreational activities. As he builds relationships with his patients, he loves hearing their life stories and experiences they have been through. In his spare time, you can find Derriel beheind a camera as his side business, where he specializes in portraits. Otherwise, he spends his time playing basketball or training in Muay Thai kickboxing
